How to reach Ischia

By car: Those wishing to bring a car to Ischia (with the exception of residents of Campania, whose vehicles are prohibited by a seasonal ban on landing and circulating) can cross by ferry, either from the port in Pozzuoli or the ‘Porta di Massa’ in Naples – with the journey taking 60 minutes or 90 minutes respectively.

For POZZUOLI, leave the A1 autostrada at the Napoli– Tangenziale exit and follow signs for the Pozzuoli – Via Campana exit. After the roundabout, follow the route indicated for the port, from where the ferries will cross to either Ischia Porto or Casamicciola.

In NAPLES, ships for Ischia depart from the Porta di Massa terminal. To reach there from the motorway, after the barriers for Naples, take the CENTRO CITTA’ E PORTO exit, follow Via Marina and then take the turning for the Varco Pisacane - following the signs for those boarding ferries to the islands of the Bay. From Naples they arrive here at either Ischia Porto or Casamicciola. For timetables and fares:

FOOT PASSENGERS: Those not bringing a car have the alternative of getting to Ischia from Naples by hydrofoil, from quays at either Molo Beverello or Mergellina. MOLO BEVERELLO is only a few minutes from Piazza Garibaldi and the Napoli Centrale train station there - by taxi, bus or tram; from the station at Mergellina, take a taxi. From Capodichino airport to Beverello, use either a taxi or the special tourist ‘Alibus’ service (tickets from the driver). Hydrofoils from Molo Beverello variously stop at Ischia Porto, Casamicciola and/or Forio. At MERGELLINA, the hydrofoil quay is very near the train station there, but can also be reached from Piazza Garibaldi or the airport by taxi. Mergellina hydrofoils cross to Ischia Porto and Casamicciola. For departure times and fares for the ferries, hydrofoils, taxis and bus services:
