Being chosen as winners of the Ischia International Award of the Premio Ischia has been for us a great honour. Just as it has been a great honour to be invited to this amazing island, the most beautiful place we have seen, it feels like a part of the heavens and gives us a feeling of joy. We wish we could come back again and again. But even if we are not able to do so soon, we shall take the memories with us of its great beauty as photos and share it with our friends.
We have been invited to collect this prestigious Prize and are proud to do so on behalf of all the members of “Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently”, those who are still in Syria and are carrying on the struggle in the cause of press freedom, to free Syria and the people who suffered and are suffering at the hands of many brutal regimes. Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently is a group of people who have decided to fight for freedom without weapons using instead the facilities offered in terms of information by the web.
We wish to dedicate this Award to the RBSS martyrs who lost their lives carrying out their mission of journalists, AlMoutaz Billah Ibrahim, Ibrahim Abduldaker, Ahmed Almousa, Naji AlJurf, and also to our underground reporters who are risking their lives in the most dangerous areas in order to show to the world the reality of life in Syria (and in Raqqa).
Thank you to the organizers of the Premio Ischia, the people of Ischia, the defenders of the freedom of the press and everyone who helped to make the awards ceremony such a beautiful event.
